Join me Saturday, April 5th, for the 4th annual 5k to benefit Katy’s Courage in memory of Katy Stewart. Katy was an inspirational 12-year-old girl who passed away from Hepatoblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer, at the end of 2010.
Katy’s Courage has flourished into a bright pink celebration of Katy’s life, inspirational personality, lively spirit, and deep kindness. Katy’s Courage primarily benefit education, in addition to bereavement counseling and pediatric cancer research. Funds raised enable scholarships for students who demonstrate Katy’s best qualities: courage, kindness, and empathy.
Registration and check-in take place from 7 to 8:15 a.m. on race day. The 5k begins promptly at 8:30am. Runners (and walkers – anyone, at any speed, can participate, it’s totally non-competitive!) start at 21 West Water Street, in Sag Harbor, head north and make a right onto Main Street. Runners will then make a right onto Glover Street, run through the Redwood section of the course, and finish back on Water Street. Prizes for top three overall male and female participants will be awarded!
Sign up to participate in the 4th annual Katy’s Courage 5k today! Cost is $25 to pre-register and $30 for day-of registration. This will be my 3rd time running Katy’s Courage 5k (read all about my experience last year here.) One Healthy Hamptons is proud to be part of this event to continue to spread Katy’s kindness throughout Sag Harbor, the Hamptons, and beyond.
