Hampton Doula to the Rescue

Truth be told, for the majority of my pregnancy, I was in complete denial that I was actually going to have to give birth. Though I was pretty content living in this state of mind, I knew that I would have to accept the fact that I was going to have to physically deliver a baby…that and the fact that I needed some serious guidance, education, and support…aka HELP!

Enter, Hampton Doula, Monica Kadash, to the rescue! I met Monica early in my second trimester when I started to attend her prenatal yoga class at Ananda in Southampton. I instantly gravitated towards Monica’s welcoming personality, calm demeanor, and lighthearted sense of humor. I loved the class and attended weekly, right up until days before I gave birth. Monica incorporates lots of stretching and relaxation to get centered as well as some challenging poses to prepare the mind and body for birth.

When I was considering hiring a doula, I knew that I wanted someone who would bring out the best in me, ideally someone spiritual, but not too spiritual that I couldn’t relate. Monica is exactly that;  straightforward and realistic, yet very warm and tranquil.

The day that I gave birth was a long, uneventful one until my water broke around 2pm, when suddenly, baby came fast and furiously. When it got down to the hard labor (the part I was dreading) I was thanking my lucky stars for Monica’s presence. As a doula, Monica provides support (both prenatal and postnatal) and advocacy alongside the medical staff. (Doulas are commonly confused with midwives, who are medically qualified to deliver babies.)

Statistically, with the help of Doulas there are less interventions,  fewer C-sections, shorter labor and reduced postpartum depression. This results in a fulfilling and satisfying birthing experiences, in short, many more happy moms!

My mission is to honor, protect and guide you, so that you feel empowered to birth fearlessly and joyfully, thus starting your journey into motherhood with confidence.” ~ Monica

Monica did just that for us; I was able to stay (somewhat) strong through the worst contractions, push with sheer determination and confidence, and instantly connect with our baby girl. In the moment, all of my fears of needles, blood, and pain were overcome by sheer empowerment.

Throughout this unique process, Monica helped in every way promised. She provided literature on the birthing process and came to our house twice to get to know our family and educate us on the whole process. She prepared us with facts, stories, strategies, and support we needed to feel ready. Does that mean that everything was smooth sailing? Of course not! But when it came down to it, everything that Monica had prepared us for unraveled pretty much as predicted. It’s already becoming a slight blur (isn’t that how women keep doing it??) but I know that I would have been far less prepared, confident, and comfortable without Monica the Doula.

Here’s Monica, baby Rowan, and I at our postnatal home visit about a week after birth 🙂               If you’re interested in learning more about Monica, visit hamptondoula.com.

Pregnancy Health & Fitness

Any other baby mamas out there trying to stay healthy and fit? It’s super duper important; it’s not just for you anymore, it’s for that growing little human inside of you. It’s for your family.

The best thing you can do for your baby is to take care of yourself. When you put your health first, you’re putting your baby’s health first. We’re always better able to take care of our family if we’re taking care of ourselves as well. So, how do we stay healthy and fit during pregnancy??

pregsaladprint

Most prenatal nutrition guides tell you what not to eat, like raw fish, cold cuts, and unpasteurized cheese…but how about what to eat?? That’s far more important!

Real, fresh, nutritious foods, that’s what (yes, just like before you were pregnant!) It’s crucial to fuel your body and your growing baby with good quality, whole foods for your little one to thrive.

Some of the best foods that you can eat during pregnancy include leafy greens, avocado, eggs, coconut, fresh fruits, seasonal veggies, salmon and lean protein, whole grains, sweet potatoes, yogurt, and nuts and seeds. Be sure your kitchen is stocked with these healthy staples and eat a diet full of variety to ensure that you get a wide variety of nutrients for you and baby.

Eat smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day, keeping both hunger and nausea at bay. Your stomach doesn’t have as much space as it used to as it’s sharing with baby, so smaller meals and snacks throughout the day will keep you energized and ease digestion. (If you’d like further nutrition support (pregnant or not) please contact kiley@onehealthyhamptons.com.)

healthyfruits

Now is the time to tune in deeper to your body’s signals, cravings, and needs in all aspects of health. If you’re tired: rest. If you’re hungry: eat. If you’re under the weather: slow down. If you’re anxious: meditate. If you’re energized: exercise. If you’re out of breath: take a break. If you’re craving orange juice: get some Vitamin C. If you’re craving ice cream: indulge once in a while. If you feel fat: think about how amazing your body is, growing life inside. A M A Z I N G !

As for exercise, DO IT! Carefully. Exercising during pregnancy will better prepare you for labor, delivery, and post-birth. Again, listening to your body is crucial. Pregnancy is not the time to try a new workout, like Cross-Fit or running if you haven’t done so regularly (unless that something is gentle yoga or another low-impact exercise that truly feels good.) Feeling good is the biggest indicator of doing good during pregnancy. Of course, consult your doctor as well.

fitpregnancy

Many active women are able to continue with their pre-pregnancy fitness routine, while modifying for baby (keep heart-rate more stable and avoid certain abdominal exercises, for example.) Activities such as walking, swimming, and yoga are highly recommended during pregnancy as they do not put impact on the body. Find some form (or variety) of exercise that you enjoy and stick with it as long as you feel comfortable.

As for me, personally, I’ve felt good enough to continue running a couple of times a week, (at a much slower pace) along with some HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workouts (not pushing my heart-rate too high) yoga, spinning, walking, and weight-training. I vary my workouts, incorporate yoga, stretching, and rest days, and most importantly, listen to my body. If I’m tired or under the weather, I’ll choose sleep over a workout or opt for a long walk, even though I probably would have pushed myself pre-pregnancy. Sustaining my exercise routine has absolutely helped me to feel better, more confident, and keep my mood stable with all of these hormones doing their thing. Pregnant or not, endorphins are magic.

kmdpreg

With all of this said, no one knows your body like you do, so the biggest advice to walk away with is to listen to your body and take care of yourself, in-turn you’ll be taking care of baby.

Transitioning from tranquility to toning, we jumped right into Core Fusion Barre by the beach with Rachel Feldman (below) of Exhale. The backdrop made each pulse a bit less painful and the ocean breeze made the hot summer sunshine not only bearable, but beautiful.

The entire weekend was full of gratitude for wellness, well-being, bonding, fitness, friendships, (new and old) strength, sunshine, and this amazing place we’re lucky enough to call home. From the weather to the workouts, and of course, the wellness warriors, we were blessed.

Looking Forward to Antigua Adventures

So, we’ve officially transitioned from bathing suits to boots and watermelon to pumpkin. Soon, we’ll go from raking leaves to shoveling snow. Ugh. The bad news is that another cold, long, snowy winter is upon us. The good news is that we can all escape the frigid weather and lack of Vitamin D this January! That’s right, we’re counting down the days until Antigua Adventure!IMG_0051Here’s what your retreat co-hosts are most looking forward to:

I can’t believe how lucky we are to spend a full week in this oasis with the best company I could ask for. Of course, the beaches, pools, yoga, fresh foods, and sunshine will be nothing short of amazing. On top of that, the women on this trip already blow me a way with their inspiration, positivity, creativity, and purity. I’m looking forward to learning from each other and applying the various aspects of wellness in paradise. Healthy living always seems to come a bit easier when the mind is relaxed, the water is near, and the sun is shining. From the intentions we set, the meals we enjoy, and the adventures we share, I know that we’ll have an amazing week and return home feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and refueled. Not to mention, a little sun-kissed as well 🙂 ~ Kiley DeMarco, Founder of One Healthy Hamptons and private Nutritionist in the Hamptons.

I am looking forward to so much–specifically that exciting feeling that flutters inside when the final countdown begins — 3 days, 2 days, 1 day, and then finally we are settled into beautiful Antigua. We become relaxed into our tropical palace literally made for island princesses and we begin to feel colorful joy. The bright colors of Antigua create magical feelings – crystal clear aqua water to feel refreshed, bright shades of tropical fruits to feel nourished, and dazzling white sands to feel grounded. The rainbows of Antigua are jaw dropping beauty and the blue skies are constantly flawless. I’d say I am most excited for the colors of Antigua – not only to view on the outside – but to feel from within and to experience with our retreat group. We are truly in for a treat because on Antigua, life is simply colorful. ~ Erica Velasquez, Founder of Yoga in the Vines at Wolffer Estate Vineyard and yoga instructor in the Hamptons

I am most excited to explore a new island with new friends. Adventures are filled with the anticipation of a new experience. Exploring Antigua, hiking to the mermaid pools, yoga with new & exotic views all add those magical elements of excitement and anticipation. Every day will be a chance to test the boundaries of our comfort zone & to fully live in the present moment soaking in the beauty of adventure. ~ Jenna Raynell, Founder of East End Mermaid, yoga teacher in the Hamptons.

IMG_0034We’re also super excited to have our wonderful sponsors Hampton Coffee Company, Hamptons Handpoured, RXBar, Pure & Peaceful, and Health Warrior, traveling with us, along with many other gifts along the way! A Weekend of Waves, Warmth, and Warriors

So, the past few weeks have been pretty tough. Bitter without the sweet. Long, cold frozen, windy, sniffly, snowy, slippery, and overall, pretty darn miz. Mother Nature just won’t budge. Don’t get me wrong, I really do love the Hamptons year round, but it’s about that time when I can totally understand how others migrate south for some sun, warmth, and beauty. Luckily, I totally got my fix of all of the above this weekend, right in our own backyard thanks to lululemon athletica East Hampton, three of the best lululemon ambassador yogis on Long Island, and Gurney’s Montauk.

IMG_0274The drive out to Montauk (sans traffic!) was decompressing in itself, but knowing that a weekend of yoga bliss lay ahead was even better. As we unrolled our mats in the Great Room, with the sun shining through the windows and waves crashing down at the beach, I quickly began to defrost and fill with warmth and gratitude.

The first of three classes on Saturday morning was taught by Lana Russo, lululemon ambassador at the Manhasset store. The class was pretty much exactly what I personally seek when signing up for a yoga class: a combination of feel-good stretching, challenging poses to push outside of the comfort zone, and a relaxing meditation. Lana does it all with a seamless flow, a warm heart, and some non-traditional yoga music. We’re talking a yoga-remix of Katy Perry’s “Roar” and such – what’s more fun than that?! Lana makes yoga more accessible to all levels as she breaks down advanced poses into manageable steps. Here’s Lana below, being the yogi rockstar that she is:

FullSizeRender(16)The second class, rounding out Saturday morning’s practice, was taught by Evelyn O’Doherty, local yoga teacher, SUP racer/instructor, lululemon EH ambassador, and friendly face we all know and love (if you don’t know Evelyn, you should.) It’s impossible not to get stronger during Evelyn’s class; her light-hearted style benefits all walks of life and all types of athletes. She has this amazing ability to make anyone smile, even when instructing challenging poses, burning abdominal exercises, and “hanging out” in plank. Evelyn’s smile always reminds us, that no matter what, it’s all going to be A ok. Here’s Evelyn practicing a playful, yet perfect, inversion:

FullSizeRender(17)After two and a half hours of Vinyasa Flow, Saturday afternoon was free for our choosing. I followed the crowd to the Seawater Spa and fell even deeper into ‘vacation mode as I sat by the Seawater Pool in my bikini, robe, and flip-flops. While it took some imagination, Montauk in February quickly became my own personal island retreat. I soaked up the goodness and sailed away into Shavasana…for the third time that day.

Saturday evening wrapped up with a Yin Yoga class taught by Angela Williams-Jones, owner of Flower Power Yoga and lululemon Ambassador at the Walt Whitman store. Lucky for me, Angela’s mat was next to mine during the morning classes, so I knew that whatever came next, there would be laughter and love. Yin is a restorative practice full of therapeutic poses to cleanse, balance, and regulate the body. Poses are held for at least a few minutes to increase circulation, enhance immunity, improve flexibility, maintain focus, and deconstruct emotion. Typically, Vinyasa produces discomfort the longer we’re in the pose; however, I found that Yin was just the opposite. At first, the poses were awkward and uncomfortable, but the longer we settled in, the better it got, especially knowing we were cleansing all of our major organs and systems of the body. Although I was exhausted, mentally and physically, after Saturday’s three classes, I couldn’t wait to get back to the mat the next day for more adventure with these amazing people.

Sunday morning’s class confirmed that Angela is so not your typical yoga teacher and this class was definitely not your typical yoga class. The Yoga Fusion Flow class took us through a series of songs, poses, emotions, stages, transitions, and experiences, some recognizably familiar and others new and different. That’s life, right? Just when we think we’ve mastered it, just when we become accustomed to the journey, just when we’ve settled in or fallen head over heels, we’re reminded that life is an ever-changing journey. Good or bad, things shift, we react, we sway, we readjust, shake it off, and keep going, hopefully with a big smile, a full heart, and possibly our yoga mat. Click here to see a quick clip of Angela’s heart-warming class!

580301_485743748146028_1073937593_nThis weekend was just that for me – a reminder that life is ever-changing, growing, supporting, experiencing, and full of love and opportunity. Not only did Gurney’s provide a rejuvenating escape, but I found that my personal yoga practice grew more in these two days than ever before. Stepping outside of my comfort zone on the mat came easily thanks to the three amazing ambassador yogis supporting us, teaching us, and making it all fun and playful. Thanks to lululemon athletica East Hampton, yogis Evelyn, Lana, and Angela, and Gurney’s Montauk for providing exactly what I needed, exactly when I needed it. Namaste!

Heating Up in Style at Gloria Jewel

This was a looooooong winter. No one is happier to see signs of spring than me. Until now, the only time I defrosted and felt warm and sunny was during a recent shopping trip to Gloria Jewel in Bridgehampton. Despite the fact that the weather outside was all kinds of chilly, I’m convinced that it’s always sunny inside Gloria Jewel.

I was on a mission – in need of a few spring staples with serious staying power to transform my wardrobe. Maybe even something I could wear right through summer…even fall… Luckily, that’s what Gloria Jewel is all about: functional, fashionable staples. Trendy, yet comfortable and classic essentials that can transform an ordinary day into a confident, kick-ass day. Sounds good, right? So, I blocked out a couple of hours and (lucky me!) headed out for a shopping spree.

photo 2I arrived at Gloria Jewel on a quiet morning to get some one-on-one time with the fabulous Megan Chiarello, owner and founder of Gloria Jewel. First, I got the grand tour of the Bridgehampton store, (located at 125 Main Street) current inventory, brands, designers, materials, and trends. My first thought: The. Colors. Are. Perfection.

photo(154)

Megan started Gloria Jewel in 2007, modeling the concept after her two grandmothers, both of whom impacted her deep love and appreciation for fashion. Unlike most high-end fashion boutiques in New York and elsewhere, Gloria Jewel is built on unconditional love, acceptance, and the desire to empower women through fashion. It’s crystal clear that Megan’s welcoming personality set a precedent throughout the company from day one.

Megan’s passion got me super stoked to shop and her attitude about clothing is right up my alley. “I’m into wearing your clothes,” Megan explains. She aims to make that moment when a women opens her closet every morning positive, fun, and comforting. Gloria Jewel is not about one-time wonders. And that’s good, because neither are cost-efficient shoppers. What’s the point of investing in an item of clothing only to wear it once, get sick of it fast, see it everywhere, or notice a decline in quality after one wash? Gloria Jewel takes care of it all. And not just boutique fashion, but also community events, charities, and year-round goings on. I’m on board with that (in my new peach long-sleeve by Wilt.)

photo 3From mood to merchandise, Gloria Jewel makes shopping FUN. No pressure to buy, no fake feedback we all know and hate. Although I loved most of what I saw and tried on, there were definitely items that just weren’t for me, and Megan was totally honest, which was so incredibly refreshing. Gloria Jewel’s staff understands that shoppers are all different. Some crave personal attention, others do NOT, but every woman deserves to walk out with at least one item of clothing that she will ROCK.

photo 4And you better believe that that’s what I did. Again and again…and again.

picstitch(19)Cotton fringe? Yes, please. Navy T-shirt dress? Must have. Yup, you’ll see me sporting these two bad boys a lot this spring. Oh, the power of staples.

So, what else sets Gloria Jewel apart from other Hamptons/NYC boutiques? The company is built on the goal of helping each and every woman (regardless of age, size, background) to feel great in her clothing. As miss One Healthy Hamptons, I can attest to the fact that all of this healthy eating and working out just isn’t worth the while unless we feel good about ourselves in our own skin. Fashion is an expression of who we are; clothing can either lift us up, making us feel comfortable and confident, or weigh us down.

While Gloria Jewel excels in high-fashion, chic, trend-setting looks, comfort is the underlying objective. If you’re comfortable, you’re confident. Megan aims to provide women with comfortable fashion that will show confidence morning through night. “I want our customers to feel good, whether they’re meeting colleagues for coffee, picking up the kids at school, or heading out for date night.” Ah, life in the Hamptons. Everywhere we look, folks are dressed to the nines…why not us, right?!

GloriaJewel-Logo-Slide2-16971_960x480Gloria Jewel shoppers are shoppers for life (trust me, I’m one of them.) The successful boutique has expanded to Westhampton Beach, Bridgehampton, Amagansett, and TriBeCa. “We want you to get compliments. We want you to get the most flattering look for YOU, we want you to find that great-fitting pair of jeans, it’s hands-down the best investment a woman can make,” Megan explains and I concur. The power of a good pair of jeans, a perfect white T, or a bombshell top for your next night out is irreplaceable. So, get ready to shop with ease, comfort, and uncompromised style.

One Healthy Breakdown: Check out your local Gloria Jewel…like pronto. Your perfect outfit and fitting confidence awaits…bring it on, summer!

Get Happier with Gretchen Rubin

Thanks to the CWBC, (Council for Women of Boston College) I got the opportunity to attend “Happiness Beyond the Heights” in NYC last week. We learned all about happiness first-hand from Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project & Happier at Home. You guys know that I am ALL about happiness, so I am so intrigued to learn about happiness in a concrete way from someone who has made a career from studying the subject.

photo(109)Gretchen began by clarifying that happiness is a difficult concept to define, measure, and substantiate; therefor, she prefers the use of the word “happier.” Regardless of our circumstances and how happy we are now, most people can relate to wanting to be happier. It also must be known that being happier involves change and personal growth. (Aka you can’t change anyone but yourself, so if you’re hopping on the happier train, get ready to focus on YOU!)

Young Woman Bending Down and Smiling with Arms Stretched BackAs I learned watching The Happy Movie, 50% of our happiness is determined by genetics, 10% by life circumstances, and 40% is controlled by our intentions.

One of my favorite of Gretchen’s many happy lessons is that happy people are helpful people. For many people, wanting to be happier or taking time for ourselves may be viewed as selfish. In actuality, happy people are far more likely to turn outward and help others. Think about it: people who volunteer, people who are charitable, people who are generous, those who offer to help you out, or do something to make you smile because they sense that you need it – these are usually happy people. Less happy people are more likely to isolate themselves and less likely to seek ways to help others. As Gretchen says, “ We should be selfish if only for selfless reasons.” So, go ahead and let yourself off the hook. Make time for what makes you happy and chock it up to doing a selfless deed, knowing that making others happier makes us even happier. Happiness is contagious. Happiness is a growing cycle. Do good, feel good. Give and you shall receive. Imagine if the world was run by happiness experts?

Gretchen gave us some other great happiness tips I’m excited to share about boosting personal happiness (which, we now know boosts the happiness of those around us too!) Gretchen’s first two simple checklist items for being happier include sleep (7-8 hours, it’s non-negotiable) and daily exercise (even 10-20 minutes is enough to get the endorphins rolling and best if outside in the sunlight). Personally, I struggle to get enough sleep, but I’m committed to making sleep a priority and you guys know I’m big on the exercise thing. Regardless of your fitness level, just get moving everyday. It’s been scientifically proven to boost happiness.

Gretchen advocates for focusing on the value of smell. All our senses can give us pleasure in different ways, but Gretchen explained that smell doesn’t take much time, effort, or money. While fresh baked chocolate chip cookies give us pleasure, the indulgence comes at the cost of calories, and baking them also takes up some time. A shopping spree sure gives us pleasure, but (cha-ching) comes at a financial cost. Also expensive and time-consuming, getting a massage to satisfy the pleasure of touch. Smell is fleeting, it does not take our time, money, or effort to appreciate a delightful smell. While you can buy a candle or perfume you love and indulge in that smell, it’s also about noticing the wonderful smells around us. I would also argue that music is an affordable sense that comes at little cost and little extra time. Hearing a song you love definitely boosts happiness, so give yourself the gifts of music and scent daily. It’s really about finding things that come at little cost to you, but really boost your happiness (ie: hot baths, a good book or magazine, cup of tea, favorite TV show, craft of choice, etc.)

Another of Gretchen’s philosophies: outer order contributes to inner peace. Lots of us feel that organization calms us. Whether it’s the coat closet, our desk, library, bedroom, etc., maintaining order on the outside will help us feel better, calmer, and clearer on the inside. It’s true, as much as I hate to clean, it always makes me feel renewed after a good tidying. Gretchen’s requirements for holding onto ‘stuff’ are; I either need it, use it, or love it. If none of the three, get rid of it. Wow, I really need to clean out my closet with those conditions…(and if you know me at all, no need to confirm that realization…I’m on it…)

It’s not all about purging “stuff;” it’s about value. Happiness has been shown not to be correlated to possessions or a lack thereof, but more to a value for what we do have. Gretchen recommends creating a shine for the possessions we love. For her, it was children’s literature. Instead of her collection being scattered around the house, she put it all in one spot and coordinated it so that it feels special now, that spot is dedicated to her children’s literature collection. It’s not about adding to a collection and needing more, more, more, it’s about treating possessions we value with value.

Lastly, anyone who has studied the concept of happiness will agree that the key to happiness is relationships. Happy people have happy relationships. Happy relationships make us happy. Happy people make for happier relationships. There’s that cycle again. Again, boosting happiness involves personal growth, meaning we cannot change others, what they do, or how they treat us, even if that contributes to unhappiness. What we can do, though, is change the way we react to others or set precedents with our own change-making actions. Pre and Post-Natal Training and Dancin’ with Michelle!

Intro from Kiley: I recently got to chat with local baby mama, lifelong dancer, health coach, and fitness pro, Michelle Weber, who splits her time between NYC & The Hamptons, teaching, coaching and providing pre and post-natal training. I was so captivated with her work and approach to fitness, birth, and life, that I just had to share with you. Since I have yet to step into the world of motherhood myself, I asked Michelle to write an article about what it is she does. Read all about her work here and be sure to check out her Integrated Fusion Fun & GYROKINESIS® classes at DanceHampton this summer! Learn more about Michelle and sign up for classes via her Facebook page or email: Michelle@MichelleWeber.com. Classes cost $35 each but YOU get $10 off your first class when you email her – see you there!!

Pre-natal Training is such an inspiring and wonderful time. I begin working with moms-to-be (planning to get pregnant) and newly pregnant moms all the time and am so inspired to help guide these women through their pregnancies feeling strong, active and ready for the finish line….birth! From the moment you actually become pregnant, everything begins to change. Your muscle tone changes, your pelvic cavity reacts differently, and so on.

It is sometimes an odd time for the mom-to-be, to know what is “good” to do, and what is not. There is a lot of conflicting information out in the world about how to safely prepare for birthing while training your body. That is the way I look at it, “safely preparing the body to give birth.” Through each stage, I cater the session and progression to the woman in front of me and how she is feeling in her pregnancy. Each trimester brings about new changes. Strength, length, and support are key to feeling great, as well as helping to create space in the body for both mom and baby to feel comfortable. The goal is to maintain a level of fitness, but also to prepare mom’s body, mind, and emotions to do what is most important…give birth. I love being able to exercise with my moms and help them to feel confident that what they are doing is really benefiting the journey they are about to embark upon. It is proven that performing an intelligent exercise regime during pregnancy can also help the body to begin to heal faster once that beautiful baby is born.

Post-Natal Training. Let me begin with my definition of what a “post-natal” client is…any woman who has ever given birth! Sometimes I meet women that have children that are a little bit older, and they assume that they wouldn’t be considered “post-natal”. Not in my book! If you have had children, one year, two years, 10 years ago…you are post-natal, especially if you have not taken the time to address the internal changes that occurred in your body following the birthing process.

As a woman who has experienced pregnancy, birth, and motherhood, I absolutely adore the process of healing and strengthening women’s bodies from the ‘Inside Out.=,’ my specialty for the past seven years. It is a special process that coincides with one of the greatest life changes we will ever make. It is my goal to guide women back to a place where their bodies heal and function fully. We begin with deep core training to reprogram the muscles of the pelvis, spine, core, and diaphragm. I specialize in pelvic floor training and also the closing of a split of the Diastasis (rectus). The earlier I begin to work with a post-natal client, the easier it is to heal and repair, but it can be done at any stage.

It takes a lot of strength and stamina to be a mom, so endurance training comes next, but no matter what, we start by finding the foundation to create movement for endurance training. The more powerful and comfortable a woman feels in her body, the better she can function in life! We are not re-creating your pre-pregnancy body, you are a whole new woman now. We are creating a newer, upgraded version that now embodies all that you are. Harnessing the power to create life gives that core even more power!

I love teaching women to really move to continue their training as they get stronger. My integration of dance in my work and my classes creates a sense of ownership, freedom, and femininity. Dance allows for a fun way to get the cardio in that doesn’t feel like work. It is not easy, but when done right…it is quality over quantity for sure!!!

We all know that a mom’s time is limited and quite valuable! Use your time to harness that greatness inside; your Dream Body!
