Hope in the Hamptons

Come out and celebrate the life-saving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® at the Inaugural St. Jude Hope in the Hamptons on July 11th! Hosted by FOX News National Security Expert, Columnist, and Commentator, KT McFarland, this chic red carpet event will feature gourmet, farm-fresh fare, cocktails, an exclusive auction, and a performance by Billy Joel’s Broadway tribute band, The Movin’ Out Band. It’s an event not to be missed with an unprecedented cause.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. Everything they do is centered around finding cures and saving children. The most amazing part about St. Jude is that families never receive a bill. They pay for treatment, travel, housing, and food – because St. Jude understands that the only thing that these families should worry about is helping their children live. Now that’s something to celebrate.

Hamptons ImageSt. Jude has the world’s best survival rates for the most aggressive childhood cancers. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent and working to drive this number to 90 percent in the next decade. Meanwhile, St. Jude freely shares the breakthroughs it makes, and every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children.

In addition to celebrating this great cause and this amazing community, we’ll honor local Hamptons family of little Drew, currently receiving treatment at St. Jude for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Let’s rally for Drew, support St. Jude, and celebrate summer in the Hamptons! Click here or call (212) 239-3239 to purchase tickets for Hope in the Hamptons. One Healthy Hamptons is honored to support this cause and we’re looking forward to seeing you Saturday, July 11, 2015, 6-10:30pm at 1143 Deerfield Road, Water Mill.

Hamptons Cranksgiving!

Saunders & Associates is proud to join forces with the nationwide Cranksgiving movement. This ride was the brainchild of NYC cycling enthusiasts who wanted to pair pedaling with giving.

10348539_10152473843003575_3037848298029843841_nThe concept is simple. The route takes you to four different grocery stores. You pay nothing to join the ride. Instead, we ask that you bring your wallet and purchase non-perishables at each grocery store stop along the way – the amount you spend is completely up to you. There you have it. You get to spend the morning riding your bike with a group of awesome riders and you help members of your community have food on their tables for the holidays.

What could be better than that? Not much. So, what do you say? We’ll be starting our event in East Hampton Village on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014. All donations for this ride will go to the East Hampton Food Pantry. They plan to feed more than 31,000 people this year in Amagansett, East Hampton, Montauk, Springs and Wainscott.

NBC’s TODAY Show will be at Cranksgiving documenting the event and will be airing the footage on Monday, 11/24! Today Show’s Matt Lauer and Darlene Rodriguez from WNBC will be riding in the Hamptons Cranksgiving, so sign up to join them!

The ride will start and finish at the East Hampton Middle School (76 Newtown Lane, East Hampton.)
Registration will begin at 10am. The ride will begin at 11am. The ride is approximately 6 miles. There will be fun prizes and giveaways along the way!

Riders, please bring:
• Bike with a helmet and a bike lock
• Large, sturdy backpack to carry your non-perishable goods
• At least $20 to purchase the food (bring more if you want to donate more!) There is no registration fee.

Please check-in when you arrive to receive a free map with your route — including stops at local grocery stores — a shopping list of food requested by the East Hampton Food Pantry and an envelope to collect all the receipts for your purchased items.

This is a charity ride and not a race. Ride safely, be nice and treat others like you would like to be treated. Cranksgiving is lots of fun, helps a good cause and shines a positive light on the local community. Please come help us support our community!

We Partied Under the Stars

What’s better than spending a Saturday night with the stars sipping drinks and roasting marshmallows under the stars at the Bridgehampton Beach and Tennis Club?! Doing it all for a good cause! Saturday night, Women’s Health Magazine and the FEED Foundation kicked off their annual Run10Feed10 Campaign, Hamptons-style. Run10Feed10 is the 10k sweeping the nation, raising money to feed mouths in need, fighting the hunger epidemic, one meal at a time.

photo 1From chatting it up with one of my fave ladies, Gabby Bernstein to Kelly Bensimon shaking her booty on the dance floor, sitting around the bonfire with Kelly Rutherford and fam, to top designers in their best ‘Hamptons chic,’ it was a night to remember, that’s for sure. So what brought all of these fabulous people together to party under the stars? Fighting hunger, that’s what.

photo 3

photo 2Women’s Health and The Feed Foundation are stopping hunger in its tracks, one mile at a time. As of today, 50 plus million Americans are living hungry. Sadly, hunger effects about 1/6 children, inhibiting their ability to learn and thrive. Right here, in our own country, in our own city, in our own neighborhood. Unlike disease and natural disaster, hunger is a problem we can all do something about, fast. We can all take one morning this fall to push ourselves to run 6.2 miles in what has become such a popular event that last year, they shut down the West Side Highway! Local fitness studios even jumped on board; local classes at Flywheel Sports, Barry’s Bootcamp, and Exhale went to the cause, in addition to their generous donations to the event’s silent auction.

Women’s Health sure knows exactly how to do it up here in the Hamptons. Drinks were flowing, dj was playing, s’mores were roasting, and the company was amazing. Lauren Bush Lauren displayed FEED’s adorable bags that raise money to fight this epidemic worldwide.

photo 3Yes, the Hamptons definitely got behind the cause. You want in? Your registration for the upcoming Run10Feed10 run in NYC Sunday, September 22nd will donate 10 meals to those in need. What’s better than running NYC knowing your feeding 10 mouths?

One Healthy Breakdown: OHH is all about paying it forward, doing good, feeling good, sweating for a good cause, and of course, a good party under the stars. Thanks Women’s Health Mag and the FEED Foundation for a memorable summer night. See you September 22nd!

One Super Saturday

Super Saturday is always a day to remember in the Hamptons. Hosted by Donna Karen and Kelly Ripa, this past Saturday was the annual designer garage sale at Nova’s Ark in Water Mill to benefit Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Super Saturday is nothing short of spectacular.

I started going to Super Saturday a few years ago with my boyfriend’s family. Once I was first roped in, I’ve never looked back and now it’s a summer highlight, virtually ‘Christmas in July.’ My boyfriend’s mom (Gail, below center) beat stage 3 ovarian cancer, as did my maternal grandmother. For us, this is way more than just a shopping outing, Hamptons go-to, and a car full of shopping bags. It’s a special celebration, to honor those personally affected by this awful disease, especially Gail who is the ultimate survivor. She kicked cancer’s ass in 2008.

photo 1Over 22,000 women in the U.S. are diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer annually and less than 50% of those survive five years post-diagnosis. If the disease is detected early, it is most likely treatable, so be sure not to miss a doctor’s appointment and question abnormalities!

OCRF is the largest charity world-wide funding ovarian cancer research. So, what’s Super Saturday all about? Essentially, shopping discount designer merchandise; hundreds of venders donate 100% of their Super Saturday proceeds to OCRF. There’s a ton more going on around the sale tent, from a kids carnival, games, manicures, psychic readings, demos, sweets and treats, celebrity sightings, face painting, raffle, and, an open bar. Sant Ambroeus provides an amazing catered lunch and there’s always lots of other treats; Hampton Coffee, ZICO, Pirate’s Booty, Blue Print juice, Carvel ice cream, and more.

photo 4

Prices lower as the day goes on, so by the end of the day, once you’ve shopped and are about to drop, remaining expensive designer merchandise can cost just a few bucks. You bet your bottom dollar I got a pair of those jeans.

One Healthy Breakdown: Have a drink, buy a dress, eat well, chat with Kelly, and help a good cause? That’ makes for one SUPER Saturday.

We Did It!

945496_518726274843931_982795310_nYesterday marked One Healthy Hamptons’ very first event and official summer kickoff!  THANK YOU immensely to all that came out to Flywheel yesterday to spin for Head Start! The crew was amazing and really made the day memorable. Together, we raised over $1,000 for our local Hamptons Head Start! This will fund their ongoing early intervention and family assistance programs and provide much-needed school supplies for the upcoming fall. If you attended or donated to the cause, pat yourself on the back, ya did good.

941709_518726078177284_251078567_nShay Kostabi, renowned FlyBarre & Flywheel instructor, lead us through an amazing ride. This girl rocks; her motivational instruction lead our diverse group (some first timers, some avid spinners) all to the same place: our max…and then even further, until the very end. A big thanks to Shay for transforming this event into a FAB 45!

And a very special thank you to a few special local businesses for donating our prizes and refreshments; Naturopathica, Wolffer Estate, Gloria Jewel, Groundworks @ HRENS, Anke’s Fit Bakery, and The Juicy Naam.  We gathered, we flew, we sweat, we helped our community, had delicious muffins and fresh juice, and we welcomed the BEST summer!  We cycled to end the cycle of poverty and we made a difference.
